Hotels

Jurys Inn Derby

King St, Derby DE1 3DB, UK – 01332 621000

A great place to stay. Short walk to shops, bars and restaurants. You can get a taxi which will cost you approx £5. The hotel is very clean and all staff very friendly. There is a on site car park but if it's full you will have to park approx 5 mins away. The hotel will validate the ticket and you get a discount of 20%.

Very clean hotel and comfortable room& bathroom. Car park is very limited and cost £3 per night for guests. The pancakes costs extra £4.50 on the breakfast but it's very poor, Tesco can do better. But on the overall I enjoyed my stay

Holiday Inn Derby - Riverlights

Morledge, Derby DE1 2AY, UK – 01332 412644

The team here have gone above and beyond to help me during my stays here. I see them frequently and they never disappoint. Whatever your needs/requirements just ask. They are a friendly team and consummate professionals. Shame the wonderful fourth floor restaurant isn't supported more by passing trade. It makes a unique venue and serves lovely food reasonable priced. Well Done all at Riverlights.

As it is a holiday inn it is looks pretty standard and similar to other holiday inns. Rooms are modern and decent size. Staff friendly food however is not good ordered a room service a salad and it was some rocket with few pieces of chicken soaked in vinegar .

Hallmark Hotel Derby Midland

Midland Rd, Derby DE1 2SQ, UK – 0330 028 3405

As always, a lovely time here. The rooms, though a little faded, are clean. The beds are extremely comfortable. The food is gorgeous. The best bit? The staff. Friendly, approachable, and they remember me and my dog, who they treat like a VIP The doggy welcome pack in the room is lovely, he enjoys his treats! Thank you Midland hotel, in particular Patryk for making me want to stay here every time I return to Derby 😍

We went as a group of 10 of us for afternoon tea. We had quite a mix of dietary requirements, including vegan, and were pleasantly surprised just how very capable and accommodating they were to our needs. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. A really lovely afternoon. THANK YOU! :)

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

56 St Peters St, Derby DE1 1SN, UK – 01332 345577

Ive always loved Ryan's Bar. Never a bad thing to say about the place. Staff are polite and friendly. Dont have to wait too long for service and its always nice and clean.

This very tiny pub.its at the back of shop and up alleyway.you wouldn't noticed its was there if didnt have board in the street. Its like steeping back in time. The lady serving friendly.she was very helpful.nothing was to much trouble.

Blessington Carriage

11-17 Chapel St, Derby DE1 3GU, UK – 01332 365988

The Blessington Carriage (or "Bless"), is a quirky pub in the centre of Derby. Just round the corner from The Flower Pot, the Blessington Carriage has two bars, extensive indoor and a small out door area. It serves a very wide array of craft beers at reasonable prices, and is friendly and trendy. Thoroughly recommended.

Awesome place. Very good door staff

Silk Mill Ale and Cider House

19 Full St, Derby DE1 3AF, UK – 01332 349160

Superb pub. A wide range of mostly local ales, enough of a selection to please even the most fussy beer drinker! The decor is impressive, a very nice mix of old style pub with a slightly modern twist. The gents toilets are a particularly amusing example of the charm they have added to this old ale house. We were unable to sample the food when we visited, but have been told by locals that it is top notch! Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Derby.

Good selection of beers, food is very very good. Nice beer garden and the place has a great ambiance with its open log fire and old school decorations, definitely a place to check out when in Derby townfor local and visitors alike.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Chuckles Guesthouse

48 Crompton St, Derby DE1 1NX, UK – 01332 367193

Loved this place! Warm friendly hosts, delightful b&b. The best one I've ever stayed in. Comfy bed. Clean and thoughtfully decorated yet very cosy. Delicious breakfasts.

Stayed for two nights with a friend. Spotless and very comfortable, I wish there was a Chuckles everywhere I go on holiday. Such generous hosts, if in town, look no further. A great breakfast was just the sugar on top.

Thornhill Lodge Guest House

Thornhill Lodge Guest House, 6-8 Thornhill Rd, Derby DE22 3LX, UK – 01332 345318

Lovely Very clean, very pretty, everything you need in the room plus use of a kitchen which is also very clean. Excellent service and fabulous food. Can't fault in anyway. Great location, walking distance to Derby Royal Hospital

Beautiful rooms, excellent service. really nice outdoor seated area for guests. hosts were very friendly and accommodating (we arrived back from a gig in Nottingham at 2am!) we missed breakfast after waking late but were left cereal in the kitchen area. Rock cakes were a really nice welcoming touch :) All round excellent experience, would definitely recommend to everyone!

Premier Inn Derby City Centre (Riverlights)

Moreledge, Derby DE1 2BB, UK – 0871 527 9684

Amazing place. Staff are so polite and can't do enough for you. The room and communal areas spotlessly clean. Breakfast was fantastic and lots of choices. If you wanted something different like poached eggs or vegetarian sausages they are more than happy to cook them for you. Parking is available at extra cost across the road. Plenty of pubs within a few minutes walking distance. Will be back in a couple of months. Outstanding!

Very decent hotel. The rooms are clean and comfy. Some rooms have a lovely view of the river however we ended up with a view of the bus station! Can't complain given the price. The breakfast was excellent and well worth the price. The one downside was the lack of parking however the hotel does offer a reduced rate at the Intu car park in the shopping centre opposite. It would be nice if this were better communicated to guests prior to arrival.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
